REPORTING LIVE FROM THE RANDOM EVENTS DESK - STEPHEN HAWKING SPOTTED BACKSTAGE AT A
DEPECHE MODE SHOW:
British pop group DEPECHE MODE partied with their most intelligent fan last night when
brilliant author STEPHEN HAWKING attended their concert and even made an appearance at the
star-studded aftershow party. The wheelchair-bound A BRIEF HISTORY OF TIME genius went
with his 19-year-old son TIM to watch the BARREL OF A GUN hitmakers play their show at
London's WEMBLEY ARENA, and they were later invited backstage to the lavish celebration.
The famous scientist said, "My ears are still ringing but I really enjoyed it."
Hawking's assistant TOM AULD says, "Martin read A Brief History of Time and didn't
understand it but, as Stephen only speaks at 15 words a minute, he couldn't really explain
it to him." Hawking suffers from a wasting disease that means he communicates through
a computer. He selects the words a voice synthesizer says on his behalf. Auld continues,
"We were overwhelmed to meet them and they were overwhelmed to meet Stephen. Martin
was a very personable guy considering he was in a band that had dealings with hard
drugs." And Hawking is not just a completely serious guy. He put the band's musical
talents to good use by getting one of their session musicians to program his mobile phone
so it rings with Depeche Mode's 1981 hit JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH. How weird is that??
